The Blues overturned a 7-18 halftime deficit to defeat the Melbourne Rebels 31-21 at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
The visitors got off to the worst possible start as Rebels first five-eighths Danny Cipriani orchestrated two tries with his first two touches, first setting up Cooper Vuna for a brilliant five pointer before floating a lovely crossfield kick over to Mark Gerrard who touched down in the corner.
James O'Connor's earlier penalty goal gave the home side a staggering 15-0 lead within the first five minutes.
But the Blues managed to shrug off their lethargic start as Rene Ranger regathered a loose ball and grubbered ahead into the in-goal as wing Sherwin Stowers pounced on it to score.
With the Blues trailing 7-18 at the break following a monster 48 metre penalty goal by James O'Connor, Pat Lam's men turned it on in the final quarter, scoring three quickfire tries to overrun the Rebels.
Replacing Isaia Toeava at fullback, Rudi Wulf bagged a double, while Wider Training Group hooker James Parsons also found himself on the scoresheet after evading two would-be tacklers and burrowing his way over from close range to score.
The Blues play their final pre-season match against the Highlanders in Auckland on Friday afternoon.
