Ofa Tu'ungafasi

27 Nov 2015

2016 marks the fourth year that Ofa Tu’ungafasi’s powerful presence will be felt on the team. The prop is renowned for his focus both in training and on the field, especially in defence.

While at Mangere College, Tu’ungafasi was brought through the Auckland and Blues Development Squads. He also represented New Zealand at Under 17 and Under 20 grades and made the New Zealand Secondary Schools team in 2010.

In 2015, Tu’ungafasi started every game during the Blues’ season bar one due to concussion. His performance with the Blues reached the attention of All Blacks selectors and in June was invited to the All Blacks training squad and travelled to Samoa.

Off the field, Tu’ungafasi has been recognised for his community engagement. He opted to shave off a full head of dreads to raise money for Starship Children’s Hospital in April 2015.
