Super Rugby centurion Piri Weepu is a key figure in the Blues squad. Weepu played for the New Zealand Under 21 in 2004, the same year he earned a call-up for the All Blacks. He has played 71 Tests for the All Blacks between 2004 and 2012 and was a prominent player in the side’s 2011 Rugby World Cup success.
A proud man, Weepu is bouncing back from the disappointment of being dropped from the All Blacks and still has visions to regain that spot so he will be looking for another outstanding year at the Blues in 2014. His work and contribution to leading the younger players on and off the field are outstanding.
