Tom McCartney

Affectionately known as "freak" by his teammates, Tom McCartney is a fitness fanatic and an extremely strong player. 

A talented hooker, McCartney has been resigned to a backup role for much of his career behind Blues stalwart and captain Keven Mealamu, and despite playing 19 games for the franchise, he has only started on three occasions.

He continues to grow year-on-year and after another impressive outing for Auckland in the 2010 ITM Cup, he will be hoping to get more game time in 2011.

McCartney has also shown his ability to cover prop, playing in the position on a number of occasions with Auckland in 2010.
